2014 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships and Pan Am Championships

Join us for the 2014 ICF Canoe Marathon World and Pan Am Championships September 25-28, 2014. This is the first international event hosted on the Oklahoma River and it will certainly be an exciting one! Athletes from over 30 countries will gather in Oklahoma City to compete in this prestigious event. Opening ceremonies will be held September 25 with racing September 26-28. Just prior to the World Championships, the Oklahoma RIver will host the  Masters World Cup, September 24-25 [more].

About Canoe Marathon

Canoe Marathon is an exciting race to watch and be a part of, and spectators can watch it live on the Oklahoma River during this event! Athletes will complete a series of laps on the Oklahoma River to reach a total marathon distance that ranges between 18.7 and 30 kilometers (11.6 and 18.6 miles), depending on age group, boat class and gender. Each lap includes a portage. Athletes paddle into a dock at full speed, then sprint with their boats 80 yards across land before returning to the water for the next lap. Contact is allowed and penalties can be issued.
