Oklahoma City’s Olympic hopefuls Kaitlyn McElroy and Maggie Hogan took another step forward on the road to Rio as they qualified to race in two international World Cup events next month. The duo will race in the two person kayak 200-meter and 500-meter events at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup events to be held respectively in Racice, Czech Republic and Szeged, Hungary.

A rush of exhilaration and relief sweeps over Oklahoma City’s Bria Cornforth each time she crosses a finish line in her sprint kayak. She knows she has completed another race and is inching closer towards her ultimate goal: the Olympic games.
Cornforth, 14, began kayaking on the Oklahoma River when she was just seven years old and is currently a national champion in her age group.
