Oklahoma City Athletes to Compete at World Rowing Championships –
Team OKC has 19 athletes, three coaches in Amsterdam with sights on Rio
OKC RIVERSPORT Chesapeake Junior Crew raced in four events and won a national championship at the USRowing Youth National Championship, June 13-15 at Lake Natoma, California. OKC raced in the women’s lightweight four, the women’s eight, the men’s eight and the men’s lightweight eight. All events were contested on a 2,000-meter race course, which is the Olympic sprint distance for the sport of rowing.
USA Canoe/Kayak will be conducting a Talent Identification Assessment testing session at the SandRidge Energy Stars & Stripes River Festival at 11a on Saturday, June 28 in the training center of the Devon Boathouse.
Talent Identification Assessment is a great opportunity to learn more about the sport of canoe/kayak and to find out if you have what it takes to be a High Performance athlete! No experience is necessary and the testing session is open to the public. Oklahoma City’s Olympic hopefuls Kaitlyn McElroy and Maggie Hogan took another step forward on the road to Rio as they qualified to race in two international World Cup events next month. The duo will race in the two person kayak 200-meter and 500-meter events at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup events to be held respectively in Racice, Czech Republic and Szeged, Hungary.
