Rowing Talent ID

Identifying athletes with the potential to successfully represent the United States at the World Rowing Championships and Olympic Games is a major objective of the USRowing National High Performance Center.

Oklahoma City hosts several ID camps throughout the year to determine the ability of potential athletes and conducts ongoing talent assessment of both U23 and senior athletes in lightweight and openweight categories. The goal is not only to develop new elite athletes from the pool of existing young rowers but to recruit athletes from other sports to rowing.

Our mission is to select and recruit potential world-class medal winning athletes, and to ensure clearly defined pathways exist for high performance and developing athletes. We are also committed to identifying and developing talented athletes from other sports and presenting them with the opportunity to participate in the Olympic sport of rowing.

Under 23 & Senior National Team ID Camp

USRowing hosted an ID camp to identify potential under 23 camp and senior team athletes on December 10-11, 2016, at the USRowing National High Performance Center in Oklahoma City. 24 athletes from around the country performed erg tests, which included a 6k test, a one-minute test, and a 10-second watt test. Athletes also demonstrated their skills on the water. In addition to testing, athletes participated in discussions on technique and strategy, nutrition, and the mental game of athletic performance.
